On November 17, 2024 UPS Flight Forward became the first Part 135 Operator in the US to complete true BVLOS drone delivery flights in Florida. They flew the Matternet Matternet M2 Drone, operated via UPS's remote operations center in Fisherville, Kentucky. UPS's remote operations center is powered by Matternet's Mission Control Software.

Ameriflight, the largest Part 135 Airline in the US, becomes the second airline approved to operate the Matternet M2 in addition to UPS Flight Forward. Ameriflight is approved to operate instant logistics networks for Matternet’s customers across the US.

The Government of Malawi, UNICEF and Matternet start testing the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to explore cost effective ways of reducing waiting times for HIV testing of infants. Test flights included the 10km route from a community health centre to the Kamuzu Central Hospital laboratory. In 2014, more than 10,000 children in Malawi died from HIV-related diseases and less than half of all children were on treatment.

Swiss Post, Swiss International Airlines and Matternet launch pilot to explore the use of drones for transporting medical supplies in Switzerland. Matternet receives first authorization from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation for BVLOS flights over sparsely populated areas in Switzerland.
